The Mental Health Continuum is something that I have been talking about for a while in my books and speaking engagements and something that I think is fundamental in changing the stigma around mental health… It’s pretty complicated… Are you ready? Here it is… We all have mental health, all the time. Just like we all have physical health.
I know, revolutionary right? Whilst it might seem like common sense to some, society doesn’t really treat it that way, they treat it more like you either have some sort of mental illness or you don’t, and if you don’t, you’re all good. That’s not necessarily the case.
What we need to start realising is that not only do we all have mental health, but it is on a sliding scale from 0 to 100 and you are somewhere on that scale whether you like it or not. And, just like physical fitness we have to work on it every single day, whether it’s simply going for a walk or doing some super hard workout at the gym, we need to be doing the mental equivalent every day for in the worst case scenario, to keep our mental fitness up, and in the best case scenario get our mental fitness up to Olympic fitness level.
Hopefully this short video might help provide some clarity for some people on how they are on that scale and lets all help each other get as far up it as possible…
