Hey there,
Over the past few newsletters I’ve been espousing the benefits of reading and writing. When it’s written it like that it sounds pretty bloody obvious doesn’t it?!
I’ve talked about how to Read Your Way To Greatness, 5 Minute Journalling as part of an awesome morning routine and over the years I’ve written about topics like; why you should write down what you’re grateful for, before-bed journaling, automatic writing and reading for knowledge. There’s a lot to take in, but here’s a simple mantra for understanding WHEN to read and write;
When You Are Overthinking – Write.
When You Are Underthinking – Read.
It’s a simple, yet profound formula.
Overthinking? Get it out! Just grab a pen and paper and write. Don’t judge the writing, just let it flow out of your head and on to the paper. Studies have shown it to reduce anxiety and stress. It’s not complicated, but it works.
Want to learn about yourself while you do it? Here’s 64 Journaling Prompts for Self-Discovery.
Underthinking? This can be a symptom of living life in the sub-conscious or just numbing yourself. This is a great time to pick up a book. Stop the TV or scrolling and start to re-engage your brain with learning.
If you’re reading this newsletter then you want a happier and healthier life. Putting this simple framework into practice will guarantee to give you just that…
Much love,
